The Little Things

It's the little things that make me miss him the most. No one to eat the crusts of the sandwiches I make for lunch boxes. No one to clean up the floors after we drop the crumbs. No little scratch at the door to be let in. No toenails ticking on the hardwood floors. No jingling collar sounds. No early-morning getting-ready partner in the bathroom. No one staring a hole into me and begging for my food. No water bowl to fill. No little bed right beside my bed. No one to rush home to.

I miss all the little things of my CoCo Bean. Although small, he filled up a big part of my heart. The saying that good things come in small packages rings true for him.  I realized the first day he was gone that I had likely never been home completely alone. He was more than just our pet. He was my first baby. We got him three months before our wedding. He has always been part of our home. It is so very different without him.
I got a care package last week from a friend who knows firsthand what he truly meant to me. It couldn't be more perfect.

Ice, Ice Baby

Well, Granny and Granddaddy always said if snow stayed on the ground for three days, it would come again. Our snow a couple of weeks ago lingered for days so we were all expecting a return. The weather forecasters warned us that this would be a catostrophic ice storm. And ice it did. Some parts got lots of snow, but we got a solid sheet of ice. At first glance it looked like a blanket of white snow, but it was ice. And it iced nonstop for atleast an entire 24 hours.

So, needless to say, we were homebound. We tried to be prepared in case of a power outage. We stocked the pantry with food that didn't have to be cooked. We filled the tub with water to be able to flush the toilets. We gathered candles, flashlights, and most importantly charged all of our devices.

With four days out if work and school, we had plenty if time time just be- we crafted, we played, we read, we gamed, we watched movies, we ate and ate! We never lost power so that made our time off not too challenging. We got our feel of sledding and dressing in layers. Ice, ice baby too cold. Bring on spring!

Great to be Eight

Not sure how eight years have slipped by, but our Cam is the great eight! He celebrated with a trip to SkyZone on Friday night and cake and ice cream with family on Saturday afternoon, his actual birthday. We ended the day with some games at Chuck E. Cheese and Cookout- it was all about him all day long.  We love him to pieces and are looking forward to seeing what all God has in store for our conscientious, task-oriented, jokester.

Dance

At the last minute, I scored some silver shoes for Maeve to wear to the Daddy- Daughter Dance. She wasn't too keen on going and preferred to stay at Aunt Laura's with Cam until she saw those shoes. She immediately put them on and said, "They feel like high heels. Do they look like high heels?"

And truthfully, it made me a bit sad that my once tiny dancer blended in with all the school girls this year. And next year, it will really be "her" dance more so than mine. It was a successful night for our Relay for Life fundraiser and a memorable night for all the girls and their daddies.

Let It Snow!

We finally got to dig our sled out of the basement where it had been for two snowless winters. We had a blast racing down our hill over and over again. It was just the right amount of snow but was too fluffy to build a big snowman. We enjoyed our wacky week that included a holiday on Monday, early release in Tuesday, and snow day on Wednesday, and a delayed start on Friday. It stayed on the ground for longer than three days, so we are expecting it to come again.
